It may sound simple, but you must have a plan and be committed to execute that plan to achieve success. It is even more important as we've seen our workforces go remote in this new normal we're experiencing due to Covid. I've led and developed remote teams for more than 20 years and have seen countless employees at all levels that are very talented, have great attitudes and are performing well but never seem to progress in their career. One thing that I find common with these individuals is the lack of a written and well thought out career plan. My goal is to get my clients to think logically through the development of a plan and come up with actionable steps that will enhance their development and positively impact the culture of their organization. This starts with understanding what’s expected of you and where you want to go, what resources you have available to support you getting there, and how your position impacts your company.
An added benefit to my program is that once my clients are engaged in the process, I include ad hoc consultation to support thinking through the many scenarios that employees face every day.
The benefits to the employer are improved morale, higher employee engagement and better strategic alignment between the employee and the company.
